Embarkation Ladder
An embarkation ladder is a type of ladder specifically designed for use in marine and maritime environments. It is used as a means of safely boarding or disembarking from a ship. Especially when the ship is anchored or docked and there is a need to transfer between the ship and another vessel, a pier, or the shore.
An embarkation ladder must reach from the deck to the waterline. It should work under all conditions of a trim of up to 10° and a list of up to 20° either way. An embarkation ladder is needed at each embarkation station or every two adjacent stations for survival craft launched alongside the ship.
